Every four months, three times a year, Scuola Toscana and Corsi di Giapponese join their forces to organise the Tandem party.
Italian students of Japanese language and Japanese students of Italian language meet to have conversation exchange; it is not just a loose mixed conversation, but the students are coupled according to their level of knowledge of the language, and the time is divided between Italian language conversation and Japanese language conversation. Of course, after the first “official” hour, the conversation continues with some snacks and beverages.
It is one of the most appreciated activities of both Scuola Toscana and Corsi di Giapponese, because it is not only a method to improve the knowledge of the language, but also a way to know first-hand a foreign culture, and to make new friends (very special friends, sometimes…).
This time we had also a presentation of Japanese sake (made by a former student of Japanese), with tasting, and a selling of second-hand Japanese paperbacks.
Tandem si a well established tradition, and many of us look forward to the next edition !!!
This is the view from our classrooms on the 4th floor – these frescoes are on the palace in front of ours, were re-discovered in the nineties and cleaned up so that our students can enjoy them. They are dated around 1575.
2015 was great. We have been trying a lot of new things in our courses, we hired excellent teachers, we had good feedbacks and some interesting critiques, too, from our students. Many comebacks also, which is very important. One of the most succesful courses was the “Family Club” course which engaged us for the whole summer.
We worked with adults and kids mostly from South America, but also from Japan, Poland, US. Our class was full of drawings and works by our little students ! Part of the course is also held out of the school, in the museums and monuments of Florence. If you like to reserve for next summer (or also for the next week !) just ring us at +39055244583, or send an email at email@example.com
The official site of the Tourism City Authority of Florence is new, we can recommend it to all the students in Florence. Have a look here !
For everyone who preferes the paper, you can download and print some guides in PDF at this page:
This is a draft of the new questionnaire at Scuola Toscana, to allow the students to express their opinion, critics and (hopefully) kudos about our courses, secretary, activities and so on. Opinion welcomed (also about the new graphics…)
One of our most important activities of this 2015, we had the honour of meeting Mrs Tanaka Tomiko, a survivor of Hiroshima, who talked to us, our friends, our students at Chiesa di Santa Maria Maddalena de’Pazzi last friday.
“Hiroshima never more” was the title of the event. Part of the engagement of Scuola Toscana to ban the nuclear weapons allover the world, forever.
